Easy DIY Montessori Dressing Frames
The Montessori dressing frames are utilized to develop a child's ability to control fine motor movement in preparation for independent care. The dressing frames give them an opportunity to practice buttoning, zipping, velcro, tying and more before mastering the skill of dressing themselves.
I purchased several inexpensive quilting hoop frames and a couple pairs of second-hand shorts at the Goodwill. I cut out pieces of the shorts that had buttons, velcro, ties, and a zipper. Then I fit the pieces into the hoops with about 1.5 inches of material overlapping the hoop. This extra material was hot glued down onto the back of the frame for added durability. The total cost per frame was approximately $2.00!

What a fun, easy idea! I know I loved this type of stuff when I was a kid. I can’t believe how easy it is to put together. Pinned!
This is a great idea! Such a fun way to teach necessary skills!
I am working with underprivileged Kindergarten and 1st grade students who did not get a lot of opportunity to practice fine motor skills and develop concentration and self efficacy. I am so inspired by your idea here and will be incorporating these dressing frames in my classroom.
