Flower Art for Toddlers

*This blog contains affiliate links that I love and enjoy (see disclosure policy.)

I love having a child who enjoys art as much as I do! I have always delighted in using my artistic side, however, after college art classes my creative talent was always put on the back burner. Now that I have a child, I have a wonderful excuse to express my creative side and share it with you on Mama's Happy Hive blog! Really, this is a lot of fun for me and dare I say, for Little Bee too! 🙂

This last week we explored flower art for toddlers as a way to welcome spring. We had fun finger painting, stamping, and sticking our art creations up on the window for display.

Little Bee had a blast finger (hand) painting several large messy designs. I wanted to recycle his creative designs and make a pretty handprint flower. I cut out each of his handprints scattered throughout his paintings for the petals of the flower. Little Bee helped me stick the handprints onto contact paper taped to the window. I also helped Little Bee paint his feet for footprints to create the leaves on the stem of the flower.

I set up a fun flower stamping activity for Little Bee to enjoy, using pipe cleaners that I formed into flower shapes. I created the rounded daisy shaped flower out of two pipe cleaners. With one pipe cleaner, I simply made three equal sized loops and intertwined the loops to keep them in place. Then I added one more pipe cleaner to make the last two equal sized loops with a little looped handle on top.

I also created a skinnier petal shaped flower using five pipe cleaners. Please visit, 6 Firework Art Trays for instructions on creating this pipe cleaner flower stamper.

Sun Catcher Window Art Design

After Little Bee finished his flower stamping masterpieces, I cut each painted flower out for a sun catcher window art activity. I also cut out strips of hand painted green stems. I taped contact paper on the sliding glass window as a sticky surface for Little Bee to attach his flowers and stems.

Little Bee got creative in sticking his flowers with stems on the window and I think it turned out beautifully!

Toddler Stamped Mother's Day Card

The last activity that we did together was a toddler stamped Mother's (Grandmother's) Day card. I salvaged several of Little Bee's stamped flowers and his darling foot prints for the card. On the front of the card, I placed three of Little Bee's stamped flowers with hand painted green stems. On the inside of the card, I glued Little Bee's footprints. Finally, on the back of the card I added one more stamped flower. Enjoy 4 gorgeous flower art for toddler activities that include finger painting, stamping, hand-made Mother's Day card, and sun catcher window designs. - www.mamashappyhive.com

I laminated the card to preserve its durability. I made sure to leave a space in between the two sides of the card before laminating so that the card could easily fold in half after lamination. Making the Card - www.mamashappyhive.com

Little Bee was fascinated with this card and wanted to examine his footprints. He carried the card around the house for awhile, randomly gazing at it. He seemed to really love this masterpiece that he helped to create.Card - www.mamashappyhive.com
