DIY Party Favors

Mini Rainbow Flyer

DIY Party Favors - www.mamashappyhive.comA few weeks ago I had a birthday party at my home for both boys and girls and I decided to make these beautiful DIY Party Favors Rainbow Flyer for each child. I wanted to share a hand-made natural craft rather than cheap plastic party favors. I stopped in at a craft store and bought several petite wooden rings and bright rainbow colored ribbon to match. I choose the 1/8 inch wide ribbon to match the petite wooden rings.
Ribbon Flyers

The petite wooden rings fit nicely in the palm of my hand and are the perfect size for toddlers to hold. These little rings also work nicely for older children as they can wrap a few fingers through the ring and twirl in circles with rainbow colors flying.

Rainbow Flyer - www.mamashappyhive.comTo assemble the rings, I cut each colored ribbon to four feet and then I folded the ribbon in half onto itself. Then I looped the ribbon around the ring and tied a knot. These party favors were easy to assemble, but do take time to make. It took me about 10 minutes to make each party favor. However, they were worth the effort because the children LOVED them! The children that attended the party were from the ages of 1 year to twelve years old. It was delightful to see each child skip, twirl, and jump with pretty colors flying through the air.Rainbow Flyers - www.mamashappyhive.com

How beautiful! And, still more, I love the symbol of the rainbow for equality. Great idea and added social lesson!

Vanessa, I think it’s great that you made your own party favors. I know that the children will appreciate the rainbow flyers much more than anything you could have bought at the store!

I love these – not least because they look so easy to make! Any tips of tying the knots I should be aware of?

Pretty! I have a hard time finding the wooden rings. What store did you find them in? Are they close to the other unfinished wood things like frames, boxes etc? Thanks!

I love this idea and we are planning to make these for our two year olds noah’s ark party! I have looked at both Michael’s and Joann’s and cannot find these wooden rings. Could you share where you found them? Thanks!
