Thank you for visiting the blog. I have compiled this list of Montessori at Home Resource. This list was put together based on the activities I have been doing with my children over the years. If you have questions about how to get started or what to do first, this guide will be helpful. Most importantly, you can adapt it according to the needs of your children and family members.
What is the Montessori Method?
It all started with Dr. Maria Motessori's insights and discoveries about human development and brain research. These ushered in a new educational movement. The Montessori method.
This method is unique and orderly where children learn to learn by themselves. It is a child-led method of learning, in which the teacher sits and observes the children in an environment prepared for success.

Montessori at Home
One of the questions I get the most as a mother is how I started Montessori at home.
So I want to share with you several simple steps to get started at home.
- First start with knowledge. Read the work done by Dr. María Montessori.
- Decide how you will incorporate it into your home. In short, each family is different, so you should see which option is best suited.
- Minimize the number of toys. You can classify, for example, toys according to age, the need of the moment, etc.
- Define a place to store toys / supplies
- Separate a room or space in the home.
- Complete all the rooms in your home. (Bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, dining room, play area and exterior)
- Choose a curriculum / planner to follow
- If you choose to educate your children at home, adapt a special room for it.

Montessori at Home, Homeschooling, and the Classroom
Note that although in many respects these 3 options are similar, the implementation is very different.
Firstly, one of the differences is in time. Although the implementation of the Montessori method at home occurs throughout the day, in the other two they will have defined schedules.
Certainly, the ideal would be that you can combine these 3 options so that your child receives a comprehensive education. If you want to know more about the differences and how to apply them

Montessori Homeschool and Co-op
Here at Mama's Happy Hive, we do a combination of things. My son is currently in a Montessori school part time and at home part time. The education received in the school is similarly, in the home. Once a month, we have a Montessori-inspired cooperative at our house with friends. We follow a topic every month. When implementing these ideas, it is important that there can be unity. It is good that at school and at home they receive the same approach. So I will share with you how we organize our school supplies at home for our monthly themes.
My Best Tips for Organizing Homeschool Supplies
- Create a homeschool plan for the year
- Plan themed subjects/unit studies (For example 1-2 for each month)
- Use clear boxes. Put the materials for each study unit in a box. Label each box.

Amanda Riccetti says
Hello,
My name is Amanda Riccetti and I have Dyslexia. I am also an educator and the owner of a Montessori preschool. Our school has been in operation for 50 years and I’ve been an educator for 40. As a dyslexic person I’m well aware of the problems with reading and learning to read. I have written a series of books to help parents and educators in teaching reading. The books are based on the Montessori philosophy reading curriculum. I’m writing to ask if you would be interested in reviewing my books on your blog. I can email at your request a sample of one of my books. My own site is http://www.readingwithmissamanda.com.Thank you for your time,
Amanda
