This section of Mama’s Happy Hive blog is dedicated to all the Montessori inspired spaces and activities that Little Bee and I can dream up. I have organized this section, Busy Bee Montessori, into baby and toddler age groups. I also plan to post budget friendly Montessori activities that can be found easily at your local stores. I incorporate “non-authentic” Montessori materials into our learning spaces, because I am a practical mama who believes in using what is available, as well as what is affordable.
My occupational background is a Pediatric nurse and as a nurse, I learned the developmental stages of a child. From my nursing background, I also learned how to deliver developmentally appropriate education to meet a child’s mental and physical needs. At this time, I am a stay-at-home mama who continues to work one day a week as a nurse.
I am brand new to Montessori and absolutely love learning all about the beauty of this new journey. Little Bee and I are learning the Montessori methods as we go along. Below is a progression of our Montessori shelves over time. The top two pictures are when we started (over a year ago) and the bottom two pictures are recent. Please visit my blog post, “Our Toddler Montessori Shelves” for how we use our shelves or “Montessori: Toddler Study of the Color Red” for how we use a Montessori space in our main living room. I would love to hear your feedback in the comment section below. Thanks!
